Our goal was to develop a personalized ADHD management device that leverages real-time data analysis to enhance cognitive function and effectively manage symptoms.

ADHD management remains challenging due to the limited effectiveness and lack of personalization in current treatments. With ADHD’s unique and complex neurobiological needs, traditional approaches like medication and therapy often fall short. This project explores adaptive, tech-driven strategies to provide more personalized support, enhancing cognitive function and overall quality of life for individuals with ADHD.

We began by researching the needs of Gen Z individuals with ADHD symptoms through surveys and interviews. This informed our design phase, where we developed wireframes and prototypes. Iterative testing and feedback helped refine our product to effectively address user needs.

Identifying the problem

Current ADHD management methods face significant challenges due to their limited effectiveness and lack of personalization. Despite advancements in medication and behavioral therapy, these treatments often fail to meet the complex, individualized neurobiological needs of those with ADHD. This leads to a persistent gap between optimal outcomes and available treatments. There is an urgent need for more effective strategies that better manage symptoms, enhance cognitive function, and improve the overall quality of life for individuals with ADHD.

Understanding the users

Our research focused on Gen Z individuals with ADHD symptoms, aiming to understand their unique challenges and needs. We conducted both primary and secondary research, using surveys and interviews as our primary methods to gather insights directly from our target audience. This approach allowed us to capture personal experiences and preferences, while secondary research provided context and background on existing ADHD management strategies.

Ideation

During the ideation phase, we focused on generating ideas and exploring potential features for the ADHD management device. We created product sketches to visualize concepts and developed wireframes to outline the user interface and interactions. This process involved unpacking the device's functionality, ensuring that each feature addressed the specific needs of our target audience, and enhancing overall user experience.

Development

In this phase, we built an intuitive, user-centered flow for the ADHD management device. Wireframes mapped essential screens and interactions, creating a seamless, supportive journey through personalized tools and resources. We also developed a distinct brand identity that aligned with the project’s mission, reinforcing a cohesive and empowering user experience.

Prototyping & Testing

In the prototyping phase, we integrated the brand into the wireframes, ensuring a cohesive look and feel throughout. We created interactive prototypes where all frames were clickable, allowing for a fully functional user flow that mirrored the final product, making it easy to test and refine the experience. We conducted three rounds of user testing to ensure that the product and interface were usable and accessible.

The aim of this project is to manage and treat ADHD symptoms through the use of combining innovative interfaces and physical device hardware. The primary focus is to create an interface as well as a physical device which is designed to eliminate distractions and improve the focus of users whilst promoting their overall well-being. We aim to provide users a time tools which incorporates the Pomodorro, Timeboxing and Flowtime method allowing for structured work sessions to be offered followed by breaks aiming to enhance their productivity and concentration.  The customisable features on both the interface and physical device, such as changing sound to suit your needs or using focus enhancement features to better your concentration allows for versatility to take place within our design making it something inclusive .

By using a combination of key features in the interface and physical device, we aim to provide a solution which is comprehensive to our users which will allow for them to feel empowered whilst managing the symptoms that come with ADHD. By doing this we aim to help them ensure that their productivity is improved and overall well-being is enhanced.
