Project description

Our goal was to reduce children's anxiety during hospital visits by turning procedures into engaging, educational experiences that improved cooperation and well-being.

Timeline

10 weeks

Background

The project aimed to address children's anxiety during hospital visits, which often results in uncooperative behavior and longer recovery times. By developing a solution that incorporates gamification and interactive education, we sought to transform routine medical procedures into positive experiences, creating a more supportive environment for both children and healthcare providers.

Process

Process

Process

The process involved researching the needs and anxieties of children during hospital visits, which guided the ideation and prototyping phases. Iterative user testing refined the engaging solutions developed to enhance the hospital experience.

Identifying the problem

Nearly one million children aged 4-8 experience heightened anxiety during hospital stays due to disrupted routines and fear of medical procedures. This lack of comfort leads to uncooperative behavior and prolonged recovery, impacting both patients and healthcare providers. Addressing this avoidable anxiety is crucial for improving children's well-being and fostering collaboration between parents and medical professionals.

Understanding the users

Great design started with understanding the users. We researched deep into their needs, behaviors, and motivations to create experiences that resonated and solutions that truly connected. It was about more than functionality—it was about empathy, simplicity, and impact.

Ideation

We brainstormed ideas and features to alleviate children's anxiety during hospital visits. We focused on interactive, gamified elements and educational content, prioritizing concepts that combined entertainment with comfort for an engaging experience.

Development

In this phase, we focused on information architecture to ensure intuitive navigation and user flow. We created wireframes outlining key screens and interactions, developing essential components that facilitated a seamless user experience, guiding children through engaging and educational content effectively. We also created a brand I.D that was coherent with the objective of the project.

Prototyping & Testing

In the prototyping phase, we integrated the brand into the wireframes, ensuring a cohesive look and feel throughout. We created interactive prototypes where all frames were clickable, allowing for a fully functional user flow that mirrored the final product, making it easy to test and refine the experience.
